Tomofumi Tanno was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 39 in 2013. He has been working for “Netz Toyota” Sendai, an automobile sales company, and converted from sales and marketing to a clerical position since his diagnosis. Also, he is delivering lectures all over Japan to raise social awareness in addition to his work.

In 2015, he opened “Orange Door” which is a consulting service for people with dementia by people with dementia.

Roberts

Chris Roberts (UK)

Chris Roberts is 55 years old from Wales, UK.

He is living with Mixed Dementia (Alzheimer’s type and Vascular) and Emphysema (COPD)

but has not let this diagnosis get in the way of leading a full life. He spends most of his time promoting and providing education and information to others about dementia. He regularly gives talks on what it is like living with dementia and contributes to various social media platforms. He advocates for Rights, inclusion,

Co-production and better services for all those living with dementia.

He was the subject of a documentary made by the BBC, titled  'Living with Dementia,      Chris's Story'.

Fumiatsu

Fumiatsu Sugino (Japan)

Fumiatsu Sugino was working for an university administration as a clerical supervisor when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 59 in 2013. After deep consideration he retired from work at the university and started a new stage of his life. He joined a memory café and tennis club and extended his community network. He is very active in raising social awareness and started a table tennis club collaborating with a comprehensive community center and has been enjoying this ever since. At present he is a local organizing committee member of the ADI 2017 conference.
